Day Camp Manager

Description:

This position is critical to the ministry of Sky Ranch and contributes directly to our mission of leading youth and families to know and follow Christ. The Day Camp Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the Day Camp ministry content, programs, and summer staff management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Set up and maintain relationships with organizations, churches, and schools in the North Texas area to plan and execute Day Camp programs at their facilities.

  • Operational and logistical support of Day Camp Ministry programs for summer and non-summer months Plan, develop, manage, and execute Day Camp program throughout the year.

  • Develop and deliver curriculum in line with the Sky Ranch Life Map each summer.

  • Develop, lead, and carry out recruiting efforts for summer ministry teams at ALL camp locations.

  • Coordinate hiring process with HR and Camp Ministry Recruiting teams. Requires travel during the fall and spring seasons.

  • Train and manage summer staff assigned to all Day Camp site locations. Manage budgets for the Day Camp program.

  • Provide Sky Ranch with current up-to-date research on the culture of our campers, their families, and the direction of ministry in our target areas.

  • Organize and deliver community activities for summer staff to encourage the development of a strong, supportive work environment.

  • Lead, manage, and evaluate summer staff spiritual development during summer and non-summer months.

  • Develop and enforce childcare standards which create the safest and most effective ministry environments possible.

  • Serve as team lead to the camp ministry teams of their individual site.

  • Responsible for finding, developing, and facilitating age-appropriate programming and activities for the summer Day Camp Ministry program. Working alongside and supporting other departments as needed.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain compliance with Sky Ranchs employee policies and procedures.

  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:



EDUCATION
  • Bachelors degree preferred.


EXPERIENCE
  • Camp experience and program experience

KNOWLEDGE

  • Basic understanding of the field of summer camp ministries.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience with Circuitrees Sales Link software preferred.

  • Basic internet and social media skills.

  • Ability to effectively manage staff in areas such as: selection, development, coaching, motivation, scheduling, and performance evaluation.

  • Excellent leadership skills necessary to appropriately influence people to achieve a desired outcome.

  • Ability to train and motivate team members.

  • Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings to include but not limited to guests (youth and families), clergy and staff of various Christian churches and organizations of all sizes, cultural identities and worship styles, co-workers, peers, and board members.

  • Proven successful leadership experience; ability to build unity amongst a team and motivate them to work together toward a common mission.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and relationship building skills. Ability to plan, manage, and report budgets proficiently. Exceptional financial management skills.

  • Ability to provide logistical planning and facilitate meetings, and/or retreats as required.

  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.

  • Ability to exercise independent thinking and initiative.

  • Ability to deal with complex situations or issues and make effective, timely and appropriate decisions.

  • Excellent organizational skills: ability to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to communicate the vision of Sky Ranch to both internal and external customers.

  • Guests, churches, and schools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.

  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination.

  • Requires physical agility, including but not limited to bending for items below or reaching for items above the individual; crawling under desks; stooping, and climbing step stools or ladders.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The position may be in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex or at our East Texas location depending upon the needs of the day camp team. The staff member will need to commute either way.

  • Works indoors in normal office environment majority of the time.

  • Little to no exposure to physical risk.

  • Ability to travel to various geographic locations, including travel by car, and some overnight stays including weekends.



OTHER

Must demonstrate annually a clear background check and review of child safety practices as required for camp accreditation by the American Camping Association.
