1. Qualified Solicitor or Barrister.
2. Knowledge of social care/ child care legislation
3. Extensive post qualification experience in conducting child care proceedings.
4. Advocacy experience including contested Hearings at Court.
5. Experience in local government
6. Drafting Skills
7. Negotiating and influencing skills
8. Ability to advise competently in complex child care matters and to assimilate and advise upon evidential matters relating there to

We are seeking an Experienced Local Government Childcare Solicitor to join the team. You will need to do your own advocacy and will need to attend Manchester Family Court.

1. Advise the Council, Executive, Committees, Officers, and Departments on legal matters related to Social Services and Education, including attending evening meetings as needed.

2. Represent the Council in contested and uncontested hearings in court, and instruct Counsel when necessary for Family Court cases.

3. Draft and settle legal documentation, particularly for Children's Social Care and Education matters.

4. Manage litigation related to Children's Social Care and Education cases.

5. Provide guidance to team members, cover for colleagues as needed, represent the department externally, and participate in departmental working groups.
